Participants in the public plenary on March 26th will immerse themselves in the heart of openBIM in a practical way. In the long run, this international summit of openBIM is part of the French movement of the Industry of the future and the Smart City, but also the French Tech. It also participates in major standardization work – at French, European and international levels – to facilitate BIM access to all stakeholders including VSEs.

The key theme of this summit is interoperability, namely the development of open standards for the design, construction and facility management of BIM projects. Because without any professional or technology, BIM becomes impossible, and openBIM concerns all the players in the Construction industry as well as all Software Companies.

Aware of the importance of this summit for France, 8 partners are currently supporting them.

What are BIM and openBIM?

Building Information Model corresponds to the digital model of a construction operation (building, infrastructure, new or renovation), that is to say a database of a work embellished with a 3D representation.

Building Information Modeling, another BIM translation, refers to processes that allow all the participants of a construction operation (made in a digital model) to work collaboratively.

openBIM is not a software but a way of working in BIM, which brings together interoperable IT processes and tools, based on international and European standards, or open standards.
